Zoca (established crop) is a method used to renew coffee plantations. It consists of cutting the stem of the tree about 30cms from the soil, instead of planting it straight from the seed. This method may be used when the field in renewal has the same coffee variety as the one to be planted. The abundant and strong tree roots are used to its fullest, which facilitates the coffee growth with fewer fertilization requirements. In general, costs for the first production are lower in zoca than starting from scratch. #coffeeplantation #coffeecrop #coffeetree

We kick off the week presenting our employee of the year in 2019! Giovanny Cuesta is our agricultural engineer, he is responsible for our plantations in terms of productivity, reseeding, maintenance, and also the development of coffee benefits and drying protocols. Giovanny, also known as Inge by the team, has been a part of Café Granja’s team for over 5 years now. He refers to the work as the type of graduate program of specialty coffee. Giovanny believes there are always ...ways to keep doing better, developing more, and he keeps working every day with excellence. He’s thankful to the company for allowing him to work directly with nature, as well has having autonomy, where his opinion and work are highly valued. Thank you Inge for the commitment and love delivered to our coffee plantation and team! #specialtycoffee #coffeeplantation #coffeeteam See more

Developing that natural liqueur flavor in our coffee has been a challenge for us at Café Granja La Esperanza. We have used many variables to change the details in benefit protocols to develop cups of coffee with notes of cognac, wine and even whiskey, without losing its essence. : exploring new fermentation methods. #bestofcgle #coffeeprotocols #coffeeprocessing
